Account Executive
JOB SUMMARY:
Adams Outdoor Advertising (AOA), the 4th largest Outdoor Advertising firm in the U.S., is seeking Account Executives to support its small B2B sales team. Successful candidates will be driven, self-motivated individuals that can collaborate with colleagues and a wide range of prospective clients within a fast-paced environment.
This role offers a thoughtfully structured compensation plan designed to support you early and reward long-term success. Your initial compensation consists of a salary + guaranteed commission for the first nine months—providing stability as you learn about the business, build relationships, and establish momentum in the market. After this ramp period, compensation transitions to a combination of salary plus commission and a monthly car allowance.
With demonstrated performance, Account Executives are entrusted with an initial portfolio of established billing accounts in addition to new business development, creating multiple streams of earning opportunity. Commissions are uncapped, and top-performing AEs in the Norfolk–Virginia Beach market have the opportunity to achieve substantial annual earnings. While individual results vary and are performance-dependent, it is common for successful AEs to reach $100,000+ total compensation, with some current AEs earning uncapped multiple six figure commissions after several years of growing their book of business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE:
- Approach existing and new advertiser clients
- Growing your book of business to meet or exceed annual sales targets
- Structure advertising packages / products across AOA's product portfolio to meet advertiser needs
- Handle internal responsibilities including contracting, scheduling and collections tracking
- Communicate with internal leadership regarding sales projections and tracking
- Collaborate with Account Executive colleagues to create and to promote positive working environment
- Liaise with Account Executives in other Adams Outdoor Advertising markets to identify potential opportunities and to cross-pollinate sales
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Living in the Norfolk-Virginia Bach DMA for 5+ Years is Strongly Preferred
- Individuals with large professional networks across Hampton roads
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales and Marketing or equivalent experience
- One to three years direct media or relevant sales experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with computer software and technology
- Good working knowledge of marketing research
- Must be willing and able to travel, if required
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
In addition to Norfolk, AOA operates in the following markets: Ann Arbor/Kalamazoo/Lansing (MI), Beaufort/Charleston/Florence (SC), Charlotte (NC), Eastern Pennsylvania, Madison (WI), Champaign/Peoria (IL).
